Welcome techdag!

techdag — Mon, 16/06/2008 - 11:31am

Bring out your confetti, blow your party horns and turn up the ABBA CD.. Welcome to the launch of techdag!

My name is Brett, and I will be your host for the next few years I hope.

techdag has come about as a test Drupal website hosted on my own server all without the constraints of corporate rhetoric, budgets and crippling IT infrastructure constraints.

I have complete hardware, technical, software and content control of this server.. It's mine at my home to do with as I please...

So what the hell was all that diatribe about? - Glad you asked!

I have a passion for learning new technologies, hardware, software and methodologies.

One of my projects is to learn web technologies, so this website was created for me to play with, break, re-construct and modify as I learn. Its also a great way portal to share my passion for all the knowledge of trailblazing cutting edge technology, from the latest games, movies, music, tv, computers, electronics, software and engineering.

Its great.. go have a look...

This site is hosted on my own private server which is an old Mac G4 (Which I was given), on an old copy of Mac OS X Server 10.4 (which I was also given), running MAMP (which is free) and Drupal CMS (which is also free).. The only real expense is the broadband data costs, (which are really minimal) and the electricity.

anyway... I will shortly be signing up a few of my friends to play around with this site, administering it, bringing across some cool content and also blogging. I, personally will blogg about how this "project" is going ... so look forward to a fun ride...
